Dear Eve and JP,
Thank you for opening your lovely villa to us. We had the most wonderful time. The setting here is so serene and beautiful with bird song and breeze that was truly magical. The villa is so comfortable, with amazing spaces for re-charging and relaxing. We truly enjoyed every minute.
It is back to rainy Seattle for us, but we will be taking some great memories home with us!
All our thanks!

To all (future) guests of Calabas 33: we spent 10 days here with our 19 and 20 year old son and daughter. I could write pages reaffirming all the accolades of the amenities but I will try to convey our personal experience of both Calabas 33 and Aruba.
We were hesitant to come to Aruba: casinos, crowds and shot bars are not our thing. However, we have college kids, so chose this island as a vacation spot that would appeal across the age divide.
Calabas 33 was PERFECT. Immersion in the cauldron of humanity of the casinos and the Frat House Cachet of the strip satisfied our kids but we all four fled to the solace and peace of the patio at Calabas 33. We all LOVED getting in the car to come home.
HIGHLIGHTS:
Southern night skies.
Amazing birds every morning.
Many species of lizards and an iguana.
Windsurfing at the beach just north of the Marriott.
Hiking from Alto Vista church (beautiful) to north shore.
Arikok Park: wonderful! We loved the goats, donkeys, caves, windmills and lunch at Boca Prins (get the grouper or snapper).
Snorkeling at Baby Beach and Boca Catalina: like being in a National Geographic Special. Wow! I was gratified to find such natural beauty in Aruba. I did not expect it.
Food: I love to cook. The villa had everything I needed and Super Food is the place to go. Ling and Sons is just like a big American Store but Super Food has the best breads, cheeses, lunchmats etc. Super Food gems for our family: stroopwafels, truffle salami, black forest ham, ardenner ham, so much Gouda but especially the sambal Gouda, magere kwark, cashew nut bruscheta, great bread.
We actually ate in so much more because of the quality at Super Food.
Dining Out:
Wacky Wahoo: great but NEED reservations.
Flying Fishbone: great ambiance and food.
Lindas: OMG !
Bingo: good food, good price.
Casa Tua: really good pizza (from someone who does not like pizza).
Gostoso: a Portuguese, Aruban restaurant. If you have a car this is worth the drive.
Have a sunset drink on Piets Pier Bar. You will be thankful just to be alive!

If you are new to Aruba or returning:
Open up your brain -
Let it all wash in -
Sleep -
Repeat.

You will be richer !

Thank you JP and Eve, we love Calabas 33.

Had a great time at the Villa! The place was unbelievable and had everything we needed. We made breakfast every morning & cooked a couple dinners in the very spacious kitchen. Our own personal pool came very much in handy on the days we did not make it to the beach. We rented a car and got to know the whole island within just a couple of days. Eve was very friendly and more than accommodating. She made us feel right at home and made sure we had everything we needed. I would give this place 11 stars out of ten and can't wait to return.

We stayed at Villa Calabas which is one of the Sunset Studio villas. It was AMAZING!!! We weren't sure about it at first purely because it is located in the hills (about a 10 minute drive from Palm Beach) but I have NO regrets and it was one of the best holiday's I've ever had!! The owners met us at the airport to show us to the Villa and were available if we needed anything in the week, which we didn't as the villa was equipped with ANYTHING you could possibly need!
It sleeps 6-8 people but was perfect for 4 of us with 3 bedrooms and 8, yes 8 seating areas, including an indoor and outdoor dining area, gas BBQ and an amazing private pool.
Indoors (including bedrooms) had great air con and also 2.5 bathrooms, millions of towels, washing machine etc...
The villa was completely private and an absolute luxury to come back to each day and relax with our home made Daiquiri's!!!"

The house was exactly what we saw in the pictures and we were amazed by the views! Sarah, one of the property managers, went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. My 12 yr old ended up being an extra person and she had a bed made up for him in the office that connects to the master bedroom!
The cleaning service was fantastic and even prepared our coffee maker so all we had to do was hit the on button the following morning! The house itself was beautiful and spacious and had every amenity we could imagine! There were also small grocery stores very close to the house which we took full advantage of since we enjoyed cooking out on the grill at the villa. I'm sure that all who stay there have just as great of a time as we did!

We had such a fantastic time staying at the Villa Calabas. Our hosts J.P. and Eve were very nice and helped to make our stay perfect. They even did some grocery shopping for us so that we had the basics when we arrived. The house looked even better than the pictures. The view was amazing from the terrace and the pool. My husaband and I very much enjoyed taking our carafe of coffee up to the "lookout" and watching the cruise ships come in while our kids slept comfortably in their own bedrooms. Then a morning dip in the pool before heading out to explore for the day. The villa was an easy drive to the High Rise hotels where all the action is, yet it felt like our own personal retreat. We did a land sailing excursion through Aruba Active Vacations while we were there which was lots of fun but not for the faint of heart. We also took a half day jeep tour which we all very much enjoyed. We are "foodies" and there were plenty of very good restaurants nearby. We loved Linda's Dutch Pancakes, Wacky Wahoo's, Pam Pam, Bingo's, and Gari Wasabi - all located very close to the villa. For a special Christmas dinner we liked Passions on the Beach where we dined with our toes in the sand. This was truly a magical vacation and we look forward to our next return to this hidden gem.

Excellent Pool! Well appointed and spacious Villa. Felt right at home; excellent views- you can see the North Shore and Hotel district, the night sky, lit with downtown lights and stars was magnificent! The house with walls that open on all sides of the living area and the veranda with its pool made for a perfect outdoor living area, with cross breezes 24 hrs - this is what we expect of an ideal island vacation home. If ever we find ourselves back in Aruba, we will stay at Villa Calabas.
